Car and Tyres in Sweden

Car and Tyres in Sweden

Costs, tax deductions and practical guides — everything about this service in Sweden.

A car in Sweden needs more preparation than in most places: winter tyres are a legal requirement in winter road conditions, darkness lasts half the day in December, and road salt attacks both bodywork and interior. These are our guides to tyres, winter preparation and car care.

Important note on tax deductions

RUT and ROT do not apply to vehicles. The deductions are tied to work in or close to the home, and cars, caravans and boats are specifically excluded.

That means tyre changes, servicing, car care and valeting earn no tax deduction at all, whether the work happens on your own driveway or at a garage. The price you see is the price you pay. What is actually covered is set out in the RUT deduction and the ROT deduction.
